ROMAIN GUTSY — “Je ne sais pas comment te dire”

New single – out January 22 (all platforms)

Romain Gutsy released a new single, « Je ne sais pas comment te dire » (I Don’t Know How to Tell You), on January 22, available on all streaming platforms.

Produced in collaboration with Michael Wookey, the track blends vintage electronic instruments — including mellotron, optigan and celesta — with acoustic elements, most notably accordion. The result is a textured, organic production that reflects Gutsy’s long-standing interest in analogue sounds and hybrid arrangements.

The song is performed as a vocal duet with singer Dweech, following an earlier collaboration on Comme un Azur dans l’Âme. This release is among Gutsy’s first recordings in French, marking a creative shift that began in late 2025, after a career largely built around English-language songwriting.

I Don’t Know How to Tell You is part of a recent run of releases that signal a new chapter for Gutsy, combining his established indie folk / rock background with a renewed focus on song form, language and collaboration.

BIOGRAPHY — ROMAIN GUTSY
Romain Gutsy is a songwriter, composer and performer whose musical career began in the 1990s. He first appeared in various projects as an accordion player (Les Affamés) and guitarist in folk and Celtic-influenced bands, before going on to collaborate with international artists such as Calvin Russell and Soul Asylum through touring and recording projects.
His solo work initially developed in English, under the name THE RED, including the album Whatever Says the Clock (2020), followed by Numero 2 (2023). His music has often been described as a blend of folk, jazz and organic rock, characterized by a deep, expressive voice and a restrained, detail-oriented approach to songwriting and arrangements.
Between 2023 and 2025, Gutsy worked with the London-based label The Animal Farm Music, a period during which he released several singles and further shaped his independent artistic identity.
In late 2025, he began a transition toward writing and recording in French, opening a new phase in his work while maintaining a strong connection to his English-language roots. This linguistic shift reflects an ongoing exploration of form, intimacy and collaboration within his songwriting.
